What happened between 9/5/15 and 11/22/15 on this thread? It seems like there should be a few pages filling the gap?

1948 F5 88RT Build

Howdy, new here.
Here are some pics of my 48 F5 that I have been working on. Removed the rear Eaton and dropped in a 69 F350 Dana 70, Pulled the front axle and installed new kingpins and bushings and modified the whole spindle assy for 77 F350 Discs with 95 F350 calipers, will be installing a 85 460 with a T19 behind it soon. Think I will clearcoat the body and paint the frame.
Cheers, Dave

Looks like a great start. Just an FYI, you should start a NEW build thread, as this section is to post a link to your build thread.

hi Folks. new member here. I just signed up yesterday. Lots of great info, pics and plenty of helpful hints and suggestions. I bought a 49 F1 that I'm gonna rebuild. I really like the original look of the old trucks, but I would like to upgrade the steering, brakes and power train. Here is a pic of the old gal.

got the front off now. TRy'n to decide IFS or rebuild front. I like the old innie wheels, but I haven't found a source with disc brakes that will allow me to use the old rims.

it has the original 6 cyl with a 3 speed with overdrive trainie. I had never seen the overdrive in the transmission like this one. other than splitters on a big rig

anyways thanks for looking.

Welcome to FTE Mike! There is a lot of help on this site. That is a nice looking truck. Original and straight. I would suggest you start a Rebuild Page so we can all follow your progress. No pressure to get it done. WE are all here as enablers and understand the disease. Good luck! Dave

Welcome to FTE, Mike! The last photo of the gear shift lever looks like someone has installed a '41 or earlier 4-speed. I believe that is the reverse lockout lever under the ****. Nice straight looking truck!
