Turn Signals and Brake Lights Do Not Work
#18
Ok so I had the same problem....96 f150 5.0 the other night I was making a left turn and all my blinkers lights and stuff were working...finish the turn I get the abs light and no brakes or blinkers or hazards of any kind...couldn't get it out of park while it was running...basically the whole fuse 13 thing. Tried everything replacing bulbs and all that and it turns out my 3rd brake light the whole harness had shorted out...I take that completely out and now everything is fine...even a hazard light that never blinked before now doea ( btw the 3rd brake light nor any of my bed light had worked since ive owned the truck I just checked them to be thorough). I was told the cruise control problem had been fixed by the dealership. I still do not have turn lights...I dont hear anything like the blinking noise u normally do when turning nothing lights up on the dash...replaced fuse 7 and both bicameral ones and still nothing. I just would like to know if anyone has any ideas...most of what I read has had everyone's systems go vac to normal once they fixed the abs problem....I know it could very well be the Mf switch but would I really get nothing from either right or left both at the same time if that was the case and it was originally caused by the abs fuse problem? I had everything working up until that turn.
Sorry for the long sentence. ..fone small buttons.
Edit....btw I had noticed that when I played with my steering column up and down I sometimes got a light when the hazards were on to go out and not blink but the wires on the connector to the mf switch look fine not hi I could even tug out of place.

I have a 1999 F350 7.3 with a tail light/ turn signal/ brake light problem. Here is a summary of what is going on.
-no lights on- brake lights work
-lights on- front parking lights work normally/ tail lights or on but dim/3rd brake light is glowing dimly. (third brake light should only be on when brake is pressed)
-no lights on-left turn signal on/ front turn signal ok/rear has both signals flashing dimly+ 3rd brake light flashes dimly(should never do that) -same results for right turn signal.
-lights on, push brake, /taillight go out completely/ 3rd brake light goes from dim to bright.
-4 way flashers work under all conditions
I replaced the multifunction switch but that did not help. I would appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks

The rear bulb socket has three wires going to the bulb socket.
Driver side rear bulb socket wires.
Light Green/Orange used for Turn signal and Brake.
Brown wire is 12 volts from headlight switch when the headlight switch is in Park or Head.
Black wire is ground.
Passenger side rear bulb socket wires.
Orange Light Blue used for Turn signal and Brake.
Brown wire is 12 volts from headlight switch when headlight switch is in Park or Head.
Black wire is ground.
Since both Rear Parking lights are dim most likely the Black wire does not have a good ground path. Corroded wire or poor/bad contact point with the frame if the frame is the ground point.
Run a long wire from the negative battery terminal and splice it to the Black wire of either the driver side or passenger side rear bulb socket Black wire and verify if the circuit works normally.
