check it out, slip in c4 band.

I ran a thread awhile back asking about replacing a c4 intermediet band, without pulling the out guts out of the tranny. Well a nice FTEr said that years ago he couldnt, wich was true of course at the time. But while surfing EBAY tranny stores last week I found two outlets that adverties a new Slip in or Click in band that go in without takeing the transmission out of th truck. OK, I had to at least see what this thing was so I ordered one. As you can see,all they did was grind off the lip that would normally catch the apply strut , then they made a replacment piece to do its job, after the new band was fed around the drum . I guess the idea is to cut /remove very carfully the old band, then slip the now thin end of the new (soaked) band around the drum, and once that is acomplissed , place the new piece over the guide pin provided in kit and resucure the struts and adjustment bolt to spec. Sounds easy, except for the part of keeping debrise out of the thing when you cut the old band. I think Ill just put it away till the next fluid change, since my band isnt to the criticle point. Heck, maybe ill rebuild it next winter.
