Serpentine belt

I replaced my water pump today. I took the belt off and left it in the sun, I think that stretched it because when I went to put it on, the belt was loose. So I went and bought a replacement belt and it's longer than the stretched stock belt... Point me in a direction here fellas... I didn't change anything else but the water pump and I'm darn sure the pulley was put back on straight.

Make sure your tensioner pulley is coming all the way back to put a load on The belt

I'll check the tensioner in the morning. I'm pretty sure it was coming back all the way. And I don't know how else to put the belt on but the way it came off...

Did the tensioner feel strong when you were putting the belt back on

Thanks, Mine is not that kind, But I am going to ask to see that one and measure it up with the one I have... If it's the same, then it must be something with the tensioner maybe not going all the way back into play. Just weird that I barely touched the tensioner today and all of a sudden, I'm having an issue with it's tightness. Only touched it to get the belt off and to get it back on...
