Myfreeford is starting off with a positive reputation.
Max timing advance at 1500 rpm??

75 f250, 460, 7 wire ignition module/geen grommet. (not sure that any of that matters)

My idle timing is set at 12* BTDC with the idle at 650 rpm, the vacuum line disconnected and plugged. When I move the throttle, the max advance is 38-40* at 1500rp. Why is my max advance occuring so soon? I would like it around 2500-2800 rpm.

Do I need to change the springs in the dizzy? I picked up a set of Mr. Gasket 925D springs; however I am not sure if those are going to advance the curve earlier or later than what I have now.

Any suggestions?

Maybe the springs have given up after 36 years. ???

Have you tried revving it to 3500?
It could be that you are only seeing the first step of the curve.
I know my stock distributor had both a light and a heavy spring.

The Mr Gasket spring set has only a pair of light springs.
The 928G set has three pairs of springs (and a spacer for a different distributor) but it is inexpensive enough and it's not difficult to disassemble the distributor.
The Crane Cams 99607-1 vacuum advance kit is available again and comes with three sets too.
As well as better instructions.

Per the instructions that come with this kit, even with the stock light spring it won't finishing advancing until 3800 rpm.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with the "one year wonder" 1975 Duraspark box.
