2010 f150 Platnum tire suggestions please???
my father has a 2010 pearl white f150 platinum edition. it came stock with the pirelli scorpion tires, and IMO they sucked! i don't know if this is a known issue, but those tires are way too soft.. when the truck was only a few months old he got a flat and had to replace a tire, then a few months later another tire had to be replaced, then a few months after that yet again?!?!? now that the thread is getting low (still have some life left) he seems to be picking up nails left and right, its unbelievable! so needless to say i don't want him replacing them with the same tires. what tires are you all using on your 20" F150 rim??? whats a good tire for these trucks?? thanks..

I don't know much about cooper but I would stay as far away from michelin tires as you can. I have a 2011 f150 xlt, it has 17 inch rims and came from factory with michelin tires. at 20,000 miles they should have been replaced and about a week ago I replaced them at 30,000 miles with BF goodrich mud terrains. I love the tires but know that they aren't for everyone ( not everyone likes to go off-roading). But I would say a good tire for an everyday on road driver would be the bf goodrich all terrain. I know people that have gotten 90,000 miles out of them, but thats with rotating them every oil change. IMO those are the best road tires you can buy. I would go to tirerack.com and you can look at a bunch of different tires and read reviews

I think Cooper tire is the only American owned/made tire anymore.
( A HUGE plus in my book!....help keep America working)
Cooper also owns and makes Mickey Thompson tires.
I have had the MTZ " mud terrians 33x12.5" on the 1978 ford "picture in my avatar" And I loved them. They work great in Mud, Snow, etc...
Not sure on how long they will last on just highway driving?
My friend bought the ATZ " all terrian radials" 315x70x17,And he loves them except his gas mileage droped a bit because they are a tad softer and heavier than the Nittos he was running. ( He has a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4)
When the Michelins ( 17" inch rims)that came on my 2011 F150 wear out I will get me another set of Mickey Thompson's.
Here is a review of the tire:
Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ Radial SLT Tire Reviews
snip from article:
"The SLT model stands for "Specialty Light Truck", which implies their trademarked Power Ply™ 3-Ply sidewall design coupled with the 6-Ply tread. All this adds up to puncture resistance and strength for moderate offroad purposes. Styling of the tire is sharp with sidewall tread that not only looks good but functions as added protection from punctures and abuse. "

i have a 2010 fx4 with factory 20's
the stock tires lasted 25k with dry rot
replaced with michelin LTX M/S 2
I have put 5k miles on them now & will say they are great on dry pavement
they are not as good on wet pavement as factory scorpions.
I drive my truck mostly city and corner quite hard for a truck and notice some slight wear on outside tires - due to hard cornering.
i rotated once at 3k miles on them.
overall - as long as i get 40k miles out of them I will be happy
i solve the they suck on wet pavement issue with 4x4

Tires
I've just now gone through my 2nd set of Pirrellis on my 2006 FX4. I've got 44,000 miles on this 2nd set which is OK in my books. They are a softer tire which gives a smoother and quieter ride but they are awful in snow. I've had Michelins on my previous Expedition. They were good but they are a harder tire and I would get road noise as they aged.

I run the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 2009. I'm not a fan of the 'look' of the 20s; I have 18s. (sorry this was an off-topic comment) I am pleased with the Nittos thus far and have about 30k miles on them. I rotate every oil change and the wear seems pretty even thus far. I tow a camper, and a Jeep on a car hauler (not at the same time of course) about 6-8 times a year.

I replaced my Scorpions with the Bridgestone Deuler HL Alenzio. I love them and they are great in snow which surprised me. I was not going to get more Pirrelis...no way. We a fair amount of snow here in the mountains of NC and I really wanted the Dueler Revos thinking a true all terrain tire would serve me well. The revos were backordered in the 20" size, the wife was on her way out of town with the truck, so I opted for the Dueler HL and am so happy I did. They are fabulous on the highway, look clean without white letters(I think), and I can finnaly drive my truck in the snow which was a no-go with the scorpions. I will keep using this tire no doubt.

I have the same truck and i can say for sure the Michelin MS2's are hands down the best tire out there in this size. I had my Pirelli's warrantyed at 13,000 for inside sidewall cracking. The MS2 ride much smoother as well feal way more sure footed in both dry and wet. The Pirslli's in the ran always felt as you did not have control and wanted to hydroplane easy the MS2s do not have that at all they feal the same in wet as dry and the traction is grate. They may not be as sporty riding and fealing of a tire but this is a truck. As well when towing they have a much more stable feal to them and they have a 70,000 mile warranty. The ms 2 has grate reviews if you look at a few of the tire sites as well. I would tell anyone looking for tires that is not after a AT to take a good look at the MS2 They are worth the $$$
One other plus is the MS2's look much better on the truck.
