looking for tires

i have a 08 150 4x4 with a 2.5 inch leveling kit. i will be needing tires soon and i really want an agressive mud tire. it is my daily driver and i commute about 10 miles each way to work. im looking for something that will sing to me as i am goin down the road. any suggestions? i like the swamper ssr's and have read you can see as much as 30 to 40k out of them when taken care of.

I don't think you will get anywhere near 30k out of those swampers. I have Nitto Trail Grapplers on mine. They are not super aggressive but are a mud tire and I love them. They ride like an all terrain and look like a mud terrain.

Sounds like you want Toyo M/Ts then. I run 33" Toyo M/Ts on my truck. They will definitely sing to you on the road, but not to much that you get annoyed. You can get Toyos to last 30k to 40k as well. Check out my Garage/Gallery for some pictures of them if you'd like.

Both the Nitto and Toyo are good choices.
I've heard guys getting great mileage (40k +) out of the Cooper ST and STT. Here's a link to their site:

Yeah I would not go with the full on mud tire for your daily driver unless you plan to hit mud 2 or more times a week. The Toyo MT's and the Nitto Trails are awesome tires and have a good aggressive pattern to them.

I'm kinda partial to Firestones. The Destination line does well inthe owners' survey at Tire Rack.

I recently put on some Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx' on my 2005 FX4...very aggressive tread and not as noisy as most tires of this type....put about 2,000 miles since the purchase....great tire, great traction....this tire loves all types of surfaces....I did a lot of research before this purchase and couldn't be more pleased.

If you are wanting a loud tire (which is what I am understanding) then maybe look into some Pit Bulls, Nitto Mud Grapplers, Fierce MT's, or maybe the BFG Krawler tire. The swampers are big and loud but I think you would burn them off in 20k. The Mud Grapplers you might be able to get 30-35k out of.

im loving the look of the pitbull rockers. But it appears the smallest they come in are a 35 in a 17 inch rim. will these fit without major scrubbing with just a leveling kit.

If you plan to keep the stock wheels that will reduce the rubbing. If you are going with new wheels look for something with close to the same back spacing. You should have to do some trimming of the lower valance but that is about it for the 35's to fit. The thing to check is the width on their 35" tire as that will make a difference. The 295/70's would of been great as they are just under 35 but have good width without being too wide. For example the Nitto 35x12.5 tire is actually like 13.5" wide and it rubs in lots of places without some big offset wheels.

Not battling Drew in any way...but you wont get too many miles out of the Pitbulls. They're a pretty soft compound from what I've come across.

I don't know much about pitbulls but figure he might like them since he wanted something loud and aggressive.
