I have a 2001 with the 5.4 2 valve. It has the offroad package. 3.55s. best its done is about 17 on a trip. Have replaced 6 COPs. a fuel pump, and the intake. the 5.4 doesn't have the power like it should. exhaust manifolds leak. Ive not been 100% happy with this particular truck. 145K now. Bought it when it had 125K. and that was 4 years ago. Most of the time it has a trailer on it too.

Just recently rolled 260,000 miles on the old 99. Still has a mis-fire, losing coolant (even though I added a whole bottle of Bars stop leak), burns about a quart of oil every 700-1000 miles. With the weather getting warmer mileage is going from 8-9 to 10-12 when driving on the highway other wise its in the crapper in town doing anywhere from 55 to 30.

Nope. Temp stays just fine. After about 2 months or so after I last topped off the coolant, the res. is about half way full. I might have a head gasket leak...but with how many miles are on it and how badly the body is rusting away...not worth the time, money or hassle to fix it.
Water temp gauge stays right in the middle.

The '00 F150 Sport 4.6 just lost a COP at 200,500 miles, taking the opportunity to do all the coils, plugs, flush the coolant system, and install a new transmission cooler w/ fan.
The '98 Continental is up over 260,000 miles on it's B-head 32V 4.6L, runs like a top, just yanked the mufflers for something a little less bland, lol.

As much as the truck has been reliable other than crappy fuel pumps overall its been great. But Ford really should have engineered it to be easier to work on. Tucking the engine under the cowl making access to 7 and 8 cylinder nearly makes it a nightmare and ESOF kind of sucks. I might have to go to a different brand until the 2011 trucks are cheaper to buy.
