2012 F250 ERROR WITH ONLY 600 MILES
So my 2012 truck has its first error. I just got this truck, it replaced my 2011 truck that i had so many problems with.
So here is the error:
- IN 50 MILES, SPEED LIMITED TO 50 MPH...EXHAUST FLUID SYSTEM FAULT.
So I took it to my local Ford dealership where I purchased the truck and they checked the fluid and it is full. So they are doing some research. I am just hoping this is not the start to another pain in the *** truck. If anyone has this same problem i would really appreciate the feed back.
Thanks again to all of the my fellow Ford owners.

Wow, that's some bad luck! What sort of issues did you have with your first one?
By that logic nothing should ever break outside of the first model year, right? It's mechanical, and it can break.

Point is, the technology should be improved for the 2012 models.

Picked up my 2012 F-250KR in December the DEF faulted first day of ownership threatening to go into limp mode and limiting speed to 50 MPH. Since delivery of the truck it has been back to the dealer three times and again DEF fault warning is back again making this number four. The DEF fault warning and mileage count down to the 50MPH limit never goes through with the threat it seems to reset itself only to return randomly. With that said the truck is used for business and I cannot afford to have unreliable business equipment threating limited performance. If an employee threatened me with limited performance they we be let go on the spot. The situation is unacceptable and truck will go back to the dealer for good with a demand of replacement for a "Zero Defect" truck tomorrow Monday. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I was notified on March 8th there is a fix for this problem. Ford posted something to their dealerships on the March 7th the same day I had my problem. I am beling told it is a software upgrade. From what I understand this is a known problem and this will solve the problem. I am taking my truck in tomorrow for the fix. I will keep you posted

I seem to remember that a year or year and a half ago that some of the DEF systems were damaged during transport.
Apparently the lines (or something) got banged up when the carrier tied the truck down or while loading. Don't remember, but the point is if I were getting a new one I would crawl under it and inspect for physical damage.

Second, the NOX sensor issue must be caused by extremely tight EPA tolerances and a not so good sensor/software match. During Winter 2011, there were some problems with trucks located mostly in extreme cold climates. Living in Michigan, I did not have the problem...last year...My bad NOX sensor issue showed up this year, during mild 30 degree F weather...and it has been in the shop twice for repair of that component. The programming that was supposed to take care of this particular problem was released in April 2011. It did take care of most of the problems but evidently the qualkity control on the NOX sensor is still sketchy...
The good news...it is emissions related and Ford has to fix those under warranty
