AND you need a special tool that you can buy at the parts store. It is made for removing those special circular connectors that Ford uses. It's about 20 bucks or so.

There's a specified procedure (don't remember off the top of my head) but I didn't follow it when changing mine. Very little gas seeped out and the pressure was not much at all. Just in case I had a big towel wedged between me and the lines/filter. I wouldn't recommend smoking while doing the swap though.
There is a simpler method for relieving fuel pressure. It is either in the owner's manual or in on of the aftermarket manuals I have. 1. Find the fuel pump reset switch.
2. Turn off the fuel pump.
3. Crank the engine. It won't start.
4. Fuel pressure will be gone.
If you can't find the switch, pull the fuse from the underhood fuse box. I prefer starting the motor, then pulling the fuse while idiling. This way, after the power is cut to the fuel pump, the motor will suck out some of the residual gas in the line.
