289 in a 66 swap

Hello from a confused father.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
<o> </o>
Well my teen age daughter showed up with a 66 F100 so she could have a project (for her and dad).<o></o>
<o> </o>
Come to find out the 352 has a cracked head and I have a 19year old daughter with no money to fix it. <o></o>
<o> </o>
So I decided to just throw in a newly rebuilt 289 with a C4 tranny I had sitting in the shop.<o></o>
<o> </o>
I had some engine mounts from a 70's 302 but I will need perches that are lower and closer from the looks of it. I am ready to start fabbing some but figured I would see if you gentlemen had any better ideas on perches that may work for this 352 to a 289 swap. <o></o>
<o> </o>
Any help would be greatly appreciated.<o></o>

I am installing a 302 in my 1966. The perch that I am using came from a donor truck (1979) The engine and transmission package was also from the donor.

This weekend I will post pictures of the finished installation. By the way my truck has no sheet metal installed so the pictures will have all of the detail I think you will need.

Hello Confused Father.... i have a teen daughter also, so i understand.

you need to find engine perches from a 70-79 ford truck that came with a 302/351M/400M. they will bolt right to the crossmember and frame in the back set of holes, you will find that you will need to drill out 1 hole on each side to make them work.

Welcome to FTE.

I appreciate the welcome and the information.

Now that I know what to look for, after an hour search on line and a call to every bone yard within 2 hours and I still can't find any.

Anyone know where a set of perchs could be found?

You could post a request in the 80-86 March junkyard wish list, here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-wishlist.html

Well, I cant help you but I can tell you that you're not alone. I just ran into a teenage girl in a tan '66 who told me the exact same thing. Its a project for me and my dad. I wasnt sure who was the lucky one. Any chance you're near Paso Robles, California? The world's too small of a place for me to not find out if I saw your truck.

I have an "adopted" 15 year old granddaughter who would probably think the same thing. If you go to my thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...n-86-f350.html there are some pictures of her helping me on my 86 F350.

Hey Rust, yes we are in Paso. That was probably my little girl you met.

She thinks she wants to go low and slow with it.

85lebaront2, It's nice to have their help but sometimes they can drive you crazy. Im just happy she would rather work on cars more than go shopping with her freinds.

Poor thing was doomed from the start. Most of her life I was a single dad so there were more than a few occasions with the play pen outside next to the project of the month.
