Buy the reman carb because of the new bushings for the throttle plates. Then go back in it and rebuild it again with a quality kit. Ive seen so many reman carbs that are junk because of poor internals. Non functioning accel pump, improper float level, etc.

I have 79 351M i just bought a holley 600 4barrel before i read these post. Do i really need a fuel pressure regulator and can i pretty much bolt it on without any adjustments?

More than likely, yes, and more than likely, no. Go ahead and spend the $40 on a regulator. Otherwise you'll do what I did and constantly fight the floats, inevitably buying a regulator anyway.

You're definitely going to need one of these jet kits.

Might need a secondaries spring kit Holley 20-13 Holley Vacuum Secondary Components

Probably a set of accelerator pump cams, too Holley 20-12 Holley Accelerator Pump Cam Assortment

Ok,,, 77 F150 4x4 4 speed, 351M I went with the Edlebrock 400 4bbl intake, holley 600cfm manual choke carb, I am at 3600' elevation, other than a slight tune with a vac. gauge, it was all bolt on, no pressure reg. no new jets, nothing, runs great! Whole new truck, actually has the fuel and air it needs to run good. My suggestion, go to Summit Racing, order 4bbl intake and 4bbl carb of your choosing, bolt it on and drive, you will be happy. Only thing it magnified was the fact I need to re-gear to 4.10's!
Don't make it hard, carbs and intakes are NOT voodoo science.

I would hold off putting a 4bbl carb on a 2bbl intake,,,, did it, hated it, doesn't flow like it should, I went back to my 2bbl and found 4bbl intake on CL and waited for funds to buy carb. IMO, save your cash and go 4bbl intake and carb.
And vacuum gauge goes on manifold vacuum when tuning.

Buying a reman is unnecessary 95% of the time.

When you open the throttle, or just normally? If you see fuel dripping out of the boosters, it's flooding.
