Will you help me help my buddy?

Hi guys I have a 7.3 and I have seen all the oil leak spots on it. My buddy says he has a leak that is coming down the back of the engine on his 6.0. On my 7.3 the oil leaks in the valley come out of the weep hole in the back and down the engine. Is this the same on the 6.0? Are there any areas that commonly leak on the 6.0 in the valley? We're going to take a look in 2 days so I'm trying to gather your opinions. I've never even opened the hood on a 6.0 so any input would help. Thanks guys.

The problem with that is that EVERYTHING collects in the valley and runs down the back of the motor--LOL.

Oil leaks out of the valley on a 6.0 can come from several places including sloppy oil changes. Check the blue elbow tube at the turbo for a split, turbo supply and drain tubes, oil pressure sending unit, and the oil filter housing base. Also, depending on the year model you might have an ICP sensor under the turbo that has gone bad and is leaking, but that's 03 and very early 04 trucks.

On my 03 I use to get a small leak on the back of my block.Looked and looked, nothing.Than one day changing oil and fuel filters I looked at my oil pan and thought to check oil pan bolts. Was able to tighten 3/4 to a full turn on 10 of them.No leak in six months.

Thanks for that info. Last fall the dealer told me I had a small oil leak and that it was the rear seal. He said they would have to drop the transmission and it would cost several thousand dollars. I said no thank you and decided to keep a close eye on it. Now I will try tightening the oil pan nuts. If I find loose oil pan nuts I will have to think seriously about calling the dealership, and to be blunt, give them hell.

Thanks guys I'll check all those areas and hopefully we'll find it. I just talked to him and he said the valley looks dry. It's coming down the back of the motor though so I guess I'll have to take a looksy to figure it out. The bonus is he has a borescope to look in all the tight spots. I'll let you know what we find. Oh it's a 2007 f250 but I'll still take a look at the icp sensor. Thanks again.

on a 07 the ICP sensor is on the passenger valve cover, so probably not going to be the leak. If valley is dry, but it deffently coming from top somewhere, check the HPOP cover thats under the turbo. Maybe the oil drain for the turbo, but I would think that would have the valley pretty wet.
