I have an 05 f350 4x4 with the 6.0L psd and auto trans. for what it's worth it is a regular cab long box. The truck will sit and idle fine and also drive fine and then it suddenly will start to run like **** and act crazy/?? it will not shift properly and when shut off the dash lights will randomly stay on . upon re-start it will randomly begin this crap again?? any and all suggestions appreciated!!

 

ECM issue would be my guess, my truck does weird stuff during the programing process w/dash lights, etc..

Does your truck have a Programmer of some kind ?

If so program back to stock & unplug programmer from OBD2 port, if it runs fine the programmer is malfuncting.
If u dont have a programmer than my guess is ECM, hopefully "m-chan" or someone will chime in thats smarter than me.

 

The truck is stock with no tuner ever installed. Can anyone point me to where the ecm is located ? is there a chance it could be fixed by reprogramming the truck ??

 

Wouldn't hurt to check the grounds first...amazing what a bad ground will do. Also, if you haven't already...might check to see if there are stored codes. Not all codes will set a CEL on the dash.

 

I agree, grounds can be a huge issue. Again I am unfamiliar with where the ecu is exactly? I would run a couple new ground wires directly from the body, chassis and engine if I new where to look ??
