When I was a kid my dad had a 96 psd ext cab with the rare option of a 10 ft construction bed. Ford made option one of those you got to know it exists to order things. I was only young but was under it a bit and didn't remember seeing anything out of the normal for extra reinforcement. If you can one of these then you would have the ultimate guide on how to

So it was a flat bed. Yes a 161" wheel base. Cab and chassis came is several different wheel bases. I just wanted to make sure you were not saying it was a 10' pickup bed made by Ford

It was bought brand new from Duncanon ford dealer in 96 or 97 may have been an upfitter thing like centurion. But it was real. I've seen 2 others in my life both similar year. One was on eBay low mile truck and the other came from the same dealer bought new.

Just because it was sold at the dealer does Not mean Ford made it.

Just look at any 4wd dually pickup pre 1999. EVERYONE was a conversion
