1996 Ford F-53 Chassis brake issue
Recently purchased a 1996 Gulfstream Yellowstone M-8330 Motor coach, built on the Ford F-53 chassis. Has the disc brakes all around. Just drained and refilled the master cylinder, bled the brakes, pads are good. Still unhappy to the point of not feeling too safe with the stopping power of the vehicle.
Any one else have opinions on the OEM brake set-up ?
Are there any quality, after-market upgrades for this chassis that will result in more stopping power when needed ?

You might try replacing the flexible brake hoses to the wheels and axles. In my experience, age and mileage weaken the braided inner lining which allows them to "bulge" when stepping on the brakes. This results in a spongy brake pedal and diminished pressure to the calipers.
It's also possible you have a couple of frozen calipers. That's pretty common on RV's that are parked for extended periods. If they are both on the same axle, the motorhome won't necessarily pull to one side or the other and you will have a nice high, hard pedal but it will not stop well with 2 wheel brakes.
I'm not aware of upgrades to the F-53 chassis but I'm not really aware of a lot of brake problems either.
