How Far Back Will This Work?

Have your VIN number ready and call 1 (800) 392-3673.
English: 1
Other inquiries: 5

Ask the nice person for a build sheet. They won't know what you are talking about. Explain politely. They will then find the appropriate part of their phone script and tell you they have to forward your info to the research department. Provide your VIN number and personal info (Name, phone, address) when asked. Try not to laugh too hard when they ask you if rather than restoring that old truck you wouldn't prefer to hear about attractive financing terms for brand new 2012 vehicles. Say no thank you and hang up.

(Wait two weeks)

Receive phone call from Ford. "We have received your build sheet request and submitted your VIN number for processing. It will be mailed to your home address in 4-6 weeks."

(Wait 4-6 weeks, posting to ford-trucks.com to pass the time).
I read that this will work on a '77. How far back will it work?

I thought that Ford didn't do it anymore and the only place to get the information was through Marti Report.

Yeah, Ford has quit providing the free "build sheets". I don't know of anyone else except Marti being able to provide the info.
Marti bought all the old paperwork from Ford years ago, in fact when Ford got a customer request for info on their truck it had to go to Marti to get the info. That's one of the reasons it took about six weeks to get the free report from Ford.
