Conflict in 302 cylinder head torque specs..
Hey guys,
I just replaced the head gaskets on my 302 that came out of a 1977 F150. The Haynes manual says 130 to 140 ft. lbs. The package insert in the Fel-Pro head gasket set I used says 80 ft. lbs for head bolts on the intake side, and 70 ft. lbs for the exhaust side. It also says...
"Although these specifications may differ from those previously issued by Ford Motor Company, they are the result of extensive research and testing."
That seems to me to be a big difference going from 140 down to 80 ft. lbs. You guys got any suggestions?
Thanks,
