diesel tank capacity and mileage

I have a 96 f250 4x4 with the 7.3 in it. It has the dual tanks. I was wondering what capacity each tank is? I filled up a total of 29 gallons between the 2. I drove 130 miles and went through half a tank on the front tank so far. I just bought the truck 130 miles ago. Does that sound right on the mileage?

Its a total of 37gl. Between both tanks. IIRC the front is 18gl. And the back is 19gl.

that's sounds about right for for the mileage

not unless someone swapped them out for smaller tanks. stock fuel tank size on 87 to 97 ford diesel tanks is 18 front and 19 rear
there is usually a few gallons left in the tank after you run out because the pickup is not on the bottom of the tank.

They are 15 because you go to first click, I'd almost guarantee it. with my flatbed fillsups take a while on the last 5 or so gallons but I fill it up until it is up to the top of my filler necks.

All the OBS PSD's have 18.2 gallon tanks in the rear and the size of the front tank depends on the cab/bed. Regular cab 4x4 have 22 gallon front tanks. Regular, Super and Crew cab longbeds have 19.5 gallon front tanks. Super and Crewcab shortbeds have 16.5 gallon front tanks.

My idi had 18 and 19 but it is at full on the gauge. I let it come up in the filler neck. At 3/4 of a tank it takes 3.5 gallons to full. Have never looked to see if its OEM or not.

Thanks guys. I have a supercab with a long bed so I think I have the 18 and 19 gallon tanks. I put 29 gallons in it and both tanks were just under 1/4 tank.

I seem to have the 19 and 18 gallon tanks too. about the milage i seem to get about 250-260 miles a tank and fill up when it's around 1/8 of a tank. i wouldn't say if you're on track or not since my gauge moves really slowly to the 3/4 mark then drops really fast the rest of the way

You sure about that?
Mine is a Reg Cab 4x4 and I have only ever put 18 in it when she got real low. I dont like to run out so I typically fill er up about 1/8th left

Remember there is about 2-3gl. of unusable fuel in your tanks. So if to have a 18gl tank you'll probably never get anymore than 16 in it unless you pull the tank and dump it out

I usually put 20-21 gallons in the front tank when empty, so the 22 gallons make sense to me.
