I've got an 04 F-350 6.0L with 8 inch lift and 38 inch tires and I am wanting to get more power outta my 6.0 and I am wanting to put a chip/programmer in it. What would be the best chip/programmer to run in my truck?

Just make sure you have had studs installed....or you will be.

Any of the long time tuners are your best bet - 144k SCT tuned miles on my Ex... my tuner of choice was Innovative Diesel Performance, and uinlike the tuner for the wifes new Audi, the sct tuners do not have to be local, the sct's can be updated via that internet thingy

re studs, yes some opt to do studs before, but my opinion is use the truck as is until you NEED the studs... I did... and it's been fun to drive for 7 years without spending on the studs yet...

Maybe I will need them in the future, but in the meantime I didn't spend the money on it before I needed it - IMHO and experience !

 

I just bought a 2004 that just finished having head gaskets, new bolts (too bad ford didnt stud it) all new egr system. What kind of tune/chip would give it a little more and still be headgasket friendly? a 60hp something kinda small? Was kinda looking at a tuner like Edge so i can have all my gages and a small HP jump all in one package.

 

I had talked to Jody at DP-Tuner and the SCT tuner comes with stock profiles, but they will also do a custom tune specifically for your truck that will give you exactly what you want. I'm getting the 4 standard tunes and then 1 custom tune and then as I mod the truck a little more, have Jody give me another tune.
