New mirrors for the X

Hey guys. I've been doing a lot of research on new mirrors. My Excursion Limited has the small paddle mirrors from the factory. They include Power mirror, heated and turn signals. I've found what I want at AM Auto Parts 2001 Ford F250 Truck Mirror - AM Autoparts
I was under the impression that I would just need to purchase the round to square plug connector. I took a look at the connectors and discovered I have the round plug and an extra plug with two wires. I haven't seen the extra two wires mentioned anywhere in my research. Is it even worth the effort to buy the wire converter or should I just splice them?

Here's a site someone posted up recently for a price comparison...............

They show the plug in the pic and some additional info in the item description.

Thanks Rich. I've used FTE a lot when working on my Expedition. Now that I've traded it in for the Excursion, I thought I'd actually contribute some so I signed up. Once I figure this one out, I'll post a follow up on how I got the wires to work. I just haven't seen anyone mention the extra wire plug coming out of the factory mirrors. Here a pic of the harness with the round plug and the extra plug. I'm still deciding how I want to proceed. splice everything or buy the conversion plug and splice the extra two wires, or get lucky and find someone who knows where I can get a plug that fits everything.

I believe the black 2 wire is the mirror heat.

I am doing a similar swap...from the heated power tow mirrors to the heated power signal tow mirrors.

I ordered the adapters and will hack into those. I think of it this way...if I mod the door harness or mirror harness, what if I need to replace the mirror or do another swap when the 08 mirrors finally get cheaper? I'll have to do more mods. If I mod the adapter harness, replacing the mirror in the future (if I break it, etc) will be plug and play vs reinventing the wiring mod.

Not a problem. I finally found a picture of the Wiring Adapter and it does have two connectors on it for the Truck side and one rectangular one for the mirror side. Part numbers are 1c3z14a411aa and 1c3z14a411ba. I got them for $20 and $21 plus shipping from Fordpartsgiant.com. I did buy the mirrors I have posted in the first post. I know they are a bit pricey, but I like them and I'm keeping this Excursion for till death do us part. I'll post pics and descriptions of the install once all the parts come in. Thanks!

Those are really nice, '08 style with a plug that fits older trucks. I wish they were available when I bought tow mirrors for my '02 a year ago.

Mine are supposed to arrive tomorrow...I'll post copious pics of the wiring mods.

Does anyone know if you can pop out the headlight switch without having to remove the dash surround first?

Yes it does, but it is very tight with spring clips.
At times I will take out the small vented pc that sits on the side of the dash and able to reach into the headlight switch from the back to push it out.

You mean the part that is totally hidden when the door is shut? That's held in by clips or does it just pop out?

The small oval shaped dash piece that holds the headlight switch and the interior dome brightness dial just pops out when you pry it with a small screwdriver.

If that's the part you are asking about.

I just browsed this website, what is the deal with so many of the same mirror with different prices?? I understand the left and right price difference but why 3 sets of what looks to be the same mirror and 3 different prices?? I just want some heated turnsignal tow mirrors, I cant afford the 08's right now
