I have an 1964 E100 pick-up. I bought it last spring the motor blow up in the summer. I was going to rebuild it but the block and the head can not be fixed. I bought another used 170 for it, it too was junk. I can't find a 170. What all motors will fit my truck with out cutting the floor or dog house? It is a 3 speed on the column, I want to keep it a 3 speed just like it is. I would like to change to a bigger motor but not sure what I can use. I found a guy with a inline 6 out of a 1964 f150 with the tranny and all . He said it was a 3.? i think it is a 240 if that sounds right would that fit in my truck? Thanks All for the info I'm new to this so sorry if I sound stupid.
If it has a 170, a 200 will fit. Millions served. Mustangs, Falcons, Mavericks, Comets & Fairlanes. Last year for this bell pattern is 1977. 1978, the pattern changed to the SBF V8 pattern--which, if Ford had a brain in it's corporate head, it would have been all along.
AFAIK, there is no difference between a '64 and '65. IF that is true, and you will have to take the old tape measure to the scrappy unless someone else chimes in, then you can install a 240/300.
