hey guys i have a 74 f100 with a 390 fe big block in it and im looking a buying a rebuilt 460 for in it. was just wondering if my 4speed trans will bolt up?

 

It should with the right bellhousing, you will need several 460 specific things to put it in there, engine perches either a 460 flywheel or have your 390 flywheel balanced to the 460 if its a 79 or newer block, I've heard its better to get the 460 piece.. But with the right pieces it should bolt in! At least it did when I went the other way, put a 390 in a 79 replacing a 460/ C6 with a 4spd trans, the engine swap was easy, only slightly harder to go from auto to manual. A parts vehicle helps a lot though

i used L&L products towers and mounts in my 74 highboy when i put my 460 in. they sell a kit for these trucks. I am also running their fenderwell headers. LOVE IT!!! lol

As far as the bell housing i am using a lakewood steel housing. you can find used ones for pretty reasonable on racingjunk.com

 

I don't know where you are at but today there is an 84 460 listed in Idaho Falls with a bellhousing still on it on Craigslist for 150.00. I also know of a 460 w/standardtrans and transfer case here just north of idaho falls a little ways, I think its still there anyway and thats all I can think of right now..

I have a 360 in NY I would like to get rid of. I plan to do the same a swap a 460. Mine will be a mud truck so j will just go with DEC upright headers and L&L mounts once I get rid of the 360

 

What intake & distributer?
