Heavy. Would also need to know if it's a manual or automatic and what kind of diesel... 7.3 IDI or Powerstroke?

How accurate of a number do you need? You might consider taking it to a scale if necessary.

I'd say 6,500-7,000.

My 87 F250LD 351/C6 Regular cab weighs right around 5,000-5,100. Add 7-900 for the Super Cab, 2-300 for being an HD, 100 for the E4OD and another 500lbs for the diesel.

Don't do it dude! That's what has destroyed the parts market for these trucks. Between Cash for Clunkers and Junkyards selling out for scrap we are losing more and more good parts that could keep these trucks on the road.

Not everybody can afford a new truck. And a lot of us don't want to deal with the complexity of the newer late models. But it's getting harder to maintain our rigs.

Now if this thing has been stripped of EVERY useable part and has a damaged shell then it may be okay to throw it away. But as long as there is anything of use on it please save it for the future.

Super Duties weigh in at the 7k+ mark. Not an OBS. I'd wager 5800-6200.

I plan on pulling motor, trans, axles, but the rest i'm going to sell for scrap.
If you had the opportunity to buy a truck and double your money wouldnt you do the same thing???

As much as I hate to say it, beyond the drivetrain some trucks are just scrap.

Dieselaholic, do your best to work with people here for parts requests. At least then as much as possible the loss of that truck may help others stay on the road.

There's an FTE member that can now put a spare tire on his Bronco because I was scrapping mine and didn't need the part he needed.

My ext cab diesel auto 4x4 weights 6800 full of fuel. Minus a 1000 lbs engine, 300 trans and case, 1000 for axles and you don't have much left.... Cars go for 250 a ton, you got 500 in scrap left....

I guess it's according on how hard I want to make it on my grandchildren when they're trying to restore my truck. I'm in the process of restoring my Grandpas old Galaxie now and I sure wish that there wasn't so many of those cars sent to the scrapper...

But money talks and BS walks. In this economy we all have to do want we need to do to keep food on the table. It's noble that you're at least planning on pulling the drivetrain.
