PDRdiesel.com. I have the GTP and it works great. It does have .84 exhaust housing so i am not sure of what the differance would be as compared to a 1.0 housing. someone will probably chime in on that. The good thing is it is rebuildable.

Looks like a stocker with a ported compressor housing to me.

Really not the same category, but if you want to compare them,

Price: for a few hundred more you could get a 38R Riffraff Diesel: Garrett GTP38R PowerMax Ball Bearing Turbo Which will flow more air, lower EGT's and overall be a quicker, free-er flowing turbo.

Stock turbo with a compressor housing is will be a little better, specs I've seen say 13% increase in flow, so you could just install a ported housing on your stocker and have a super Riffraff Diesel: ATS Ported Compressor Housing or USA Ported Compressor Housing

Really just depends on what you want in the long run, HP goals and such. I also could be wrong about the "Super GTP"

PDR had the turbo made for them from ADP Distributers.

Be the first on here and try it out. We would all like to here. But the 38R has a bigger compressor wheel if I'm not mistaken. If it the same as the 38R without the ball bearing we would all like to here how it preforms.

Then I'd bet all it is is a rebuilt stocker with a housing. If you were to spend that kind of money for a couple hundred more you could have the 38r. Way better than stock! Why were you looking at these 2? Are you wanting to upgrade or are you in need of a turbo?

A little more info about the GTP. It is not a rebuilt stocker. It is made by ADP distributers for PDR, to their specs to what they wanted. It does have a bigger compressor wheel(not sure how much). It is rebuildable.Does the 38R spool faster, for sure, but it is over $400 more. I guess it really depends on what you want to do down the road. If you want to go north of 400hp then maybe the 38R is the way to go. I have the GTP and it spools fast but having never driven a truck with a 38R i have no comparison. i do not have EGT issues any more since upgrading and have no surging problems. It pulls good now and i am happy with it, now i need a DP tuner.

I'm considering an upgrade. I have 160k on the stock turbo and saw mention of the GTP and was wondering about it. I would prefer to have my choice made before mine goes.

The turbo in your truck is a Garret GTP38, it is rebuildable as it is now, in case you were not aware.

Is it generally recommended to rebuild the stock turbo or replace it with say a 38R? I've seen a 38R for $1299. What would it cost to rebuild?

Thanks for everyone's input!
