Need some good windshield wipers

I have a '78 F150 SuperCab and need some good windshield wipers. I got some from Dennis Carpenter several years ago and they have never worked very well. The arms dont seem to press against the windshield hard enough and the one on the passenger side does not wrap around the curve in the winshield very well. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what and where I could get some good ones?

I need the arms also. The springs on the original arms were so weak they wouldn't hold the wipers on the windshield at highway speeds. The replacements I got were not much better. I dont see the issue from other owners on this forum so most of you must not have the same issue. Any suggestions?

maybe try those blades that conform to you windshield? The one piece ones, just a shot in the dark though. My wipers don't do well either but The truck is only driven a few times in the summer for mudding so I don't use them often and don't need a good set. good luck.

My personal favorites are anco contours. For the spring why not try to find one in the junkyard from a newer vehicle that will fit. I would imagine that since our newer vehicles are rated for higher speeds that the springs would be stronger.

It should be possible to remove the spring on your current wiper arms, cut one side where it attaches, use some visegrips to put a new curl in it and put it back on. The goal here would be to shorten the spring and thus it would provide more tension and hold the wiper to the windshield tighter. It's a free fix I have used in the past with other spring loaded devices. Good luck.

x2 on what buck said thats a great idea and it also make me think you might be able to find some springs at a hardware store and fashion them to fit as well
