With a few bead rolls the 16 might not be too much different than the 18 for the floors.

Great ideas, JT. Hadn't thought of using local trade school as a resource.

Question....Why must you have cold rolled? If you use MIG with gas it shouldn't be messy with the hot rolled. Hot rolled is much easier to find. Hot rolled just makes more spatter when welding vs cold rolled.

The trucks are cold rolled and I don't have access to a mig welder.

Fair enough. How will you weld it in then? Welding 16 and 18 gauge with a stick welder requires quite a bit of skill since the material is so thin. Just trying to get a feel for the whole issue...

Thanks Mike.
well, no confirmation that it has worked yet - ha!
I just hope I can come up with something people find helpful/useful sometimes.

ouch!
that's 65% higher than the Dallas quote! I wonder if it's Chinese -vs- American or just markup? Or maybe that's delivered?
I didn't realize you were still considering new, though. I brought up the HVAC places because I thought you might luck into picking up a few odd scrap pieces here and there out of their salvage/waste dumpsters for little to no buck.
Have you tried any industrial/commercial-scale HVAC places around Marshall?
Also, some of your big construction companies - (the kind that would build things like high schools, retail stores, office buildings, jails . . ) - they will know local sheet metal sub-contractors you might reach out to and make a connection for some scrap.
