1972 F250 "Big 3" upgrade

I trying to figure out how to do the "Big 3" upgrade to my 1972 ford f250. The problem i am having is that the positive wire doesnt go directly to the alternator, it goes to the started solenoid then 3 small wires go from that to the alternator. Is there a way to go directly from the battery to the alternator, or turn those 3 wires into one?

Hey Ashton, I am new here, what the heck is a big 3 upgrade. Don't think I have heard of that one.

its an upgrade of the battery and ground wires to 1 awg wire. Most ive seen are straight from the battery to the alternator, but mine goes to the solenoid then branches off, so im not sure how to upgrade.

Run a #1 cable from the battery to the solenoid, then a #6 or #4 from the alternator to the same post of the solenoid. To make it worthwhile, run a #1 from the other post of the solenoid to the starter.
With the relatively low output of the stock alternator, there isn't much point to running a larger cable to it. You should also put a 100amp megafuse on that connection. The stock cable is actually a fusible link, which works the same as a fuse.

ok, should i leave the other two wires going to the alternator in tact, or should will that one work? im not sure why there is three, i heard something about the alternator charges the headlights or something, and it appears that two of the wires might be coming from the headlight/horn area. I cant tell because all my wires are taped together.

The other ones may go to your voltage regulator from the alternator the wires are taped up in the same part of the harness as the headlights
