Vacuum line mess

Vacuum line mess
I am new to this site and find it very helpful since I got my 1987 F-250 7.5L truck. I am however, by no means, a mechanic. I can do the basics and learn by trial and error, but I have a mess under the hood that I need some help with.
Both Smog pumps are removed, including all the tubing, vacuum lines, etc. some of the vacuum lines are plugged with screws, some with electrical tape and some left open. I have heard that only a few of the vacuum lines are absolutely essential, and am wondering if you can point me in the right direction with which ones those are and where they need to be connected. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, my truck will not start unless I add fuel directly into the carb and will run fine after I get it started. after sitting for more than an hour it will not start unless i manually add fuel to the carb again...

I can't help on the vacuum lines other than if it runs good maybe all you need to do is neatly plug the lines and clean it up, beings it runs good after started. Maybe you will get some help on that.
