08 F250 Blower Motor Intermittent

My Blower motor is intermittently going on and off. After messing with it for a while it seems to stay on . Motor may be going out. Not real easy to change the blower motor on this 2008. Haynes manual says to take the 2008 and up trucks to the dealer. Anyone have a similar problem or has anyone had success replacing the motor or troubleshooting a similar problem

Any help is appreciated.

thanks,

MWAcosta

I'm sorry not a single person has taken the time to respond to you. I have the instructions from the Ford shop manuel, if you PM me your email, I'll send it to you in a PDF.

takes about 15 min to change the blower motor, and requires no tools. it is under the dash near the fuse panel. quarter turn and it will drop down.

Does it blow through the defroster when it does blow? Is your truck 4 wheel drive? Do you have ESOF?

so how do you know the motor itself is bad and not just the control module?

Well, I can only assume it is the motor when you tap it, it starts to work. I have not had a problem with it since i first made this post (Now that i have said that it will probably not work tomorrow). It has been working perfectly. My best guess is the motor may be close to failing or maybe due my moving the electrical plug, i fixed a bad connection? Who knows? I do know that I am not going to do anything until it stops again (if its stops again).

I know it will probably fail shortly, as i am not that lucky.

thanks,

MWA

The blower motor went out on my 2008 at about 80k miles. Dealer fixed it in about 4 hours (from the time I dropped it off until they called me to pick it up). It was about a $150 repair if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the information. According to the vendor manual it is not just a quarter turn to get the motor out. You have to get into the box.

I will probably do what you did once it fails. Take it in for $150 is cheaper than me taking forever and screwing something else up. If it was on the firewall, it would not be a problem for me. Haynes manual recommends taking it in.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Found this thread while trying to replace the blower motor on my 2009 F250. Since not a lot of good tips were found in this thread, I started a new one with what I learned. It is at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...placement.html

Hope this helps the next guy looking to do this task.

The factory manual on CD is good, but leaves out some good info. At least it didn't say "let the stealership do it." LOL!
