Alliant Power Water pumps?

I think I need a water pump for my early '04, and while shopping around online for a good price I stumbled across several sites offering Alliant Power water pumps. I typically like to buy OEM for known quality, but these AP units seem to be even lower in price than I can buy OEM for with my discount. What is the consensus on these AP pumps?

I was kicking around getting the Bulletproof pump since I have all their other goodies, but that is about twice the amount of the AP pump and I'm thinking it might be overkill.

Advice? As always, thanks guys!

I too have the early 04 with the smaller water pump. I was in a cash flow bind after just buying 4 tires when mine died. This is my findings as to the pumps your talking about I have no clue. Sometimes you pay for a name. Here's the link to my thread.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10818739 that a $40 pump its been on there for a while now and it works just fine. Changing the pump is very easy btw so labor isn't a real factor.

Thanks for the input. Nice to know the job isn't too difficult as I've been planning on doing it myself to save some money and make sure a shop doesn't put tap water or crappy coolant in my CAT ELC & Distilled Water system.

While we're talking about different brand pumps, anyone have any experience with NAPA pumps? Just got a quote from them for about $75. I don't want to cheap out but if someone can vouch for the AP or the NAPA I will go that route to save some money...

I know this might go against what you're intending, but if you want to upgrade your engine to the larger, late-'04 and newer style larger water pumps, the part numbers you'll need are 4C3Z-8501-AC and 4C3Z-6608-B. Those part numbers from Ford would be the larger water pump and the engine front cover that includes a new LPOP with all the gaskets needed. Yes, I realize it's a lot more work to change out a front cover than just the water pump but at least you'll be upgrading to a more reliable unit that sees far fewer failures than the '03 units.

Thanks for pointing this out. I briefly considered it but think I am going to go with a replacement instead of the upgrade. Although I don't have my existing pump out yet to inspect the impeller, my problem with the pump is that it is leaking.

from what I understand, the stock water pump has impellars that are prone to breaking, Bullit Proof Diesel has a new modified implellar water pump that has aluminum impellars on it and they are annodized as well. If you are thinnking of keeping your truck for a long time, spend the extra and get a bullit proof water pump! I have learned over time, you get what you pay for. cost vs worth

my two cents
