I believe its a brown wire that feeds the marker circuit. First look along the frame rail and in the rear for any damaged wires. If you have a test light or voltmeter check for power on that wire on the frame rail. If you have power, follow it back and try to figure out where you lose it.

There might also be a plug at the rear of the truck somewhere aroung the drivers frame rail. Might check if theres any corrosion there....

X2 on this, or a broken wire at the same square plug location.

also check grounds and any trailer wiring connections, as those can also be points of trouble. i've seen some pretty bad trailer plug wiring jobs.

they're also called taillights, the red ones back there that are dim when the headlights are on then get bright when using the brakes or turn signals... yeah, those

Guess I should probably post MY solution:

Its caused from a bad ground...trust me....the ground wire at the rear running light....take that, cut the bloody thing and drill a hole in the bed somewhere inconspicuously like...put one of them thar U shaped doohickeys on the end of a New wire....splice it to the current ground...attach...and then tell me what happens....
