5.0/E4OD MAF conversion on a '92

I've reached my wits end on my '92 F-150. Check my other threads if you want, but I've tested, re-tested and swapped every damn thing on it. It runs pig rich with the new motor, the fuel mileage is terrible, and the power is not what it should be. Since my last threads, I've also swapped the computer with one from another (identical) truck. I also checked all the power and grounds going to the ECM.

My next step tomorrow will be to check for vacuum leaks once again, and if I don't find any, I'll be headed to the junkyard next week sometime in search of a donor for some MAF conversion parts.

I want to know what is the best/easiest truck to use. I want to stay with the single 02 system, and stay OBD-1.

Now, I remember hearing about some differences in the trans wiring for Pre and post 94 E4ODs, is this going to have an effect?

I'd assume I'll be looking for a '94 or '95 5.0/E4OD bronco or F-150.

The place I'll be going sells the engine harnesses with the engines, so I will probably have to re-pin my harness, adding MAF wires and the additional injector wires. I'll need a new IAT sensor yes?

Lots of info on this site as well as Full Size Bronco. Back when I thought I was going to build a killer EFI engine for my 89 Bronco I started to look in this direction and later decided to stay with the AOD and run a mustang setup. That project's on hold for title reasons but here's what I know.

5.0 or 5.8 doesn't really matter once you go MAF. The only MAF 5.8/E4OD computer I found is F5TF-12A650-BYA, code BIO0. It's a CA computer. F5TF-12A650-HB, code VEX1 is also popular. Both are setup for 4.10 gears. IIRC the shift points are a little different because of the quicker RPM rise.

If you use a 3.55 ratio there are a couple options. F5TF-12A650-JB, code WAY1 is popular. Also: F4PF-12A650-AA, U4X0; F4TF-12A650-AAA, HOG0.

All except the first are 5.0 computers but from what I've read it shouldn't be a problem. Be aware that there are also trucks with the 4R70W. I've heard they will work also but the shift points will be tailored to those transmissions.

All these computers can be found in 94/95 Bronco, Ex50 and Fx50 trucks.

Here's the pinout differences - Ford Fuel Injection

Conversion plans are on hold for now, I have 120psi cranking compression hot, there is a problem with the new motor, hence the low vacuum. I did re-check pushrod length and lifter preload, that is all good, doing a leakdown test hopefully tonight. If it's the rings or valves, this bitch is getting a junkyard motor and sold. My one hope is that it's the way the cam is installed, and I can re-time it.

Gettin' back to it guys, I've been through this, that and the other with the motor, and cannot confirm anything wrong with it, other than the cranking comp is lower than it used to be with the old combo, and same with the idle vacuum.

I'm going with a mass-air conversion at this point, can't find what I need in the local yards. I did pick up a junkyard '95 E4OD for the truck yesterday, and they had a truck with a complete harness, computer gone, but the trans code on the door was "U", which I've found to be the 4R70W. Could I use the MAF, engine and computer harness from this truck with some work and re-pinning? I'm still left with finding an ECM online I guess...
