Spindle Nut Question.

Did brakes on my F250 today, when pulling the spindle nuts (nut/washer/nut) I noticed the locator pin on the inner nut that locks into the washer was broken on both sides. This may have happened on removal.

Is there any harm in runing the inner nut without the locator pin? I plan on eventually geting a new set of spindle nuts to replace the ones I have now.

Without the pin you cant preload the bearing and then then torque the outer nut properly.

I picked up a Yukon replacement nut with the pin somewhere. Wasn't real easy to find. Don't have any other info handy but they are available.

Didn't take any chances, replaced the spindle nuts today to avoid any problems... I'm not keen on replacing spindles
