weird coolant leak....

Hi all.
New guy on this forum with a problem!
I have a 96 explorer that has recently developed a coolant leak. i was able to find the location of the leak, but i am puzzled by what is causing it. It is leaking on the back, passenger side of the engine, and while the truck is running it just squirts coolant out on and off...i am guessing it leaks when the thermostat opens. anyways, anyone have any ideas on what is could be? i was thinking lower intake gasket, but i have never seen a lower gasket squirt like that!

So... just the '96 4.0 is leaking. Best would be to pressure test the coolant system to find where the leak is originating from, you mention the rear passenger side seeing the leak but not sure if you meant the leak is originating at that location or this is where you are seeing the leak.

Anyway, I did a search for you on the FTE website for your Explorer 4.0 and here are 4 pages of threads you can browse to hopefully find the solution to your coolant leak:
