Cat no longer produces on-highway engines.

It would get a 3 cylinder Fiesta engine before it would get a CAT diesel.

Where did that one come from?

Take it from the source, this came from the chief engineer for the SD forum when he was asked about this almost two years ago:

[Comment From josh josh: ]
just to end rumors will the cummins be an option in the f250 - f450 in the future?
Monday April 26, 2010 1:57 josh

Chris Brewer:
Absolutely not! We have just introduced the new PowerStroke 6.7L engine for our F250, F350, F450, and F550 lineup. That is our diesel engine plan for the foreseeable future.

Read more about this HERE.

It would not make sense to spend all that money on R&D to throw it out the window and start fresh.

given how much money Ford just put into the new Scorpion engine, theres ZERO chance it drops it..

not to mention its getting rave reviews from those that drive em/own em..

im gunna come right out and say there is ZERO chance any other diesel ends up in the SD trucks for years...

As mentioned, very unlikely with the fact that Ford made their own.

In 100+ years of its history Ford could not design good small diesel.
What make you thinking it will succeed in next couple of years?

Where have you been? They have designed an engine and it has succeeded.

Didn't we hear this one before? Several times to date?
Just saying. I wish them luck, because they are going to need it.

When before? When did Ford design a small diesel before the 6.7L?

I think it's a little early to call the 6.7 a success. It's only in its second model year. We'll see how they are holding up in a few years when they start getting some miles on them.
