F150 back spacing questions

How much back spacing would I need for 33-12.5r15 tires to clear the radius arms?

What's the offset on the factory wheels?

How bad would the tires rub on stock wheels?

Factory wheels have zero offset which means the 8" version has 4" backspacing, the 7.5" wheel has 3.75" backspacing, and the 7" wheel has 3.5" backspacing. To retain clearance on the radius arm you want to use no more than 4" backspacing and maybe even a little less which means the 10" wheel you'll need for those 33's will have -1" to -1.5" offset.

Before I put the winter set on, my 31x10.5x15 tires rubbed radius arms on full lock with stock rims. I have been thinking about some 33's this summer though since I put in my lift.

Conanski, with that being said I would like to keep my factory wheels so would a 1.5" spacer work to the same effect?

Minnesota, I had 31's on my old 92 and had lots of room left

I concur. I run my 33x12.50-15's on a set of 15x10" wheels with 3.625" backspacing (-1.375" offset). No rubbing issues here.

To gain this can I run the stock wheels 7.5" , so 3.75" backs pacing and a 1.5" or 1.25" wheel spacer to make up for the offset? I'm really hoping to keep my factory wheels. It's not a serious off road truck an I don't constantly haul heavy loads.

This is depending how bad they rub with just the stock rims

I wouldn't even consider running spacers, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't try to put a 12.50" tire on a 7.5" wheel either though.

I don't see why people don't like spacers. I could see if I was always hauling something or as an heavy off road truck

The general dislike of spacers comes from a history of failures with these things that is most likely due to a weak product that also probably wasn't installed correctly.. incorrect torque. I'm of the same opinion that I wouldn't use spacers under any circumstances, and in this case they won't be needed anyway because those tires are simply too big for the stock wheels, you need 10" rims.

The copper website said reccomended wheel 8-10"wide mine are 7.5.
Im going to run them on my factory wheels untill I find aftermarket ones I like and have the cash for them.
My current tires are worn out so I need new tires and don't want to get something I dont want for tires to hold me over till I find rims, the girlfriend would shoot me lol

Assuming you meant "Cooper" website...

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company - Light Truck

Looking at the two 33x12.50-15 offerings that I see on their site (Discoverer S/T and STT), both recommend a rim width of 8.5"-11". If you're insistent on sticking with your stock wheels, I'd highly recommend looking at a 33x10.50-15. It would be much safer, not to mention look far better.

I cant get a 33x10.5r15 in the tires I want. The copper discoverer stt.

Would a 32x11.5r15 be better? I would save $60 on the price of the tires and another 4-600 on 10" wide rims.
