8iron, I love the look of your truck in your signature.

On the fuel note, the best way to get better fuel mileage is to keep your RPM's and speed at a reasonable level. 1900-2000 RPM and 55-60 mph will yield your best fuel mileage in most cases.

...oh and lets not forget WINTER blend fuel. If you have it in your region, then chances are you take a hit on mpg.

Summer blend...will yield better mpg.

With those size tires and the V10, I would run 4.88's. I believe they would be the best gear. You could run 4.56's which would yield better fuel mileage (slightly) but if you tow heavy or just want an overall better response when hitting the gas pedal 4.88's would do a better job.

If you have more to discuss about gears, to avoid this hit me with a PM.

Your economy will improve in the summer after the winter blend is gone and the temps warm up. My buddy is only getting 7.8 mpg this winter and he was getting 12 or better last summer.

well, for starters, there's the fact that fuel doesn't atomize as well in cold weather. then there's the additives, which don't yield as much mileage. (what specifically they are I don't know)

Usually...winter blend has more ethanol than summer blend. So...if you see an E10 or E20...that will cause less MPG's.

Burning a higher concentration of ethanol ( IE: E85 )...requires the engine to advance the timing. YES...more power...less MPG's.

Hope this helps...

[/quot When did gas jobs get winter blend fuel? Diesel yes. Gas never herd of it. Milage probaly has nothing to do with idling time due to decrease in ambiant temps!

The guys are right. There are additives in winter gas to keep any moisture from freezing.
MPG does take a hit in the winter. Idle time does account for some of it, but even on the road fill up to fill up will show less MPG.
