Exhaust ??????????'s

I have a 2003 6.0 bone stock. i was thinking about putting in a straight flow muffler and gutting the cat so its basically a straight pipe. I am new to diesels this is my first one i have had gassers and know that the exhaust in a gasser is loud i had it on my dodge. What would a bonestock exhaus with that set up sound like on my diesel??????? i am looking for loudness

id have to agree. if u want loudness, go with no muffler. muffler will eliminate cab drone which can get annoying, but definately get rid of the cat.

I have that setup. No cat, no muffler, all 4 inch straight pipe with stock down pipe (3.5"), and i have a crew cab. The exhaust tip is right before the passenger side tire. I love the sound, and its a head turner.

So would dumping it in front of the passenger side tire make it louder? And I don't have a tip on it yet. I'm lookin more for throaty noise instead of whistle, what can I do? I want people to hear me from down the road.

I wouldnt say obnoxiously loud, i guess me saying i wanted people to hear me down the road was not the right way to put it. I just wanna see what my options are from here on what i can do because all i have right now is whistle and no throaty noise really.

I have an 05 and up until 3 weeks ago the cat was gutted and muffler deleted. The sound was nice, not to loud but throaty. It was not loud enough for me so I recently upgraded the exhaust to a 4" turbo back (strait pipe). Let me tell you, it is alot throatier but not obnoxious and at 3/4 throttle and up it is pretty loud, I love it. There is a little bit of drone at lower cruising speeds but the trail grapplers and my loud stereo cancel it out.
Between the two exhaust setups there was a pretty big difference in sound overall. For me personally (hindsight), the MBRP should have been the first mod I did to the truck over anything else.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. My 04 has the 03 motor and Turbo. And it screams in the lower rpms. And is incedably throaty above 2k rpms.

Finding out where i was going to dump out my exhaust tip was my longest decision. I talked to the muffler guy i always go to and he said the quickier you dump it out (i.e. in front of the back tire) should help if you want it louder just cause your not bending the pipe as much if tou were to put the pipe behind the back tire. Plus i like how i can roll down my back windows and hear it even better. Who cares if its obnoxiously loud. Good for you if it is. I love the sound!

what set up do you have on yours teds????

and will me moving it to the side help out significantly???? and i have heard of putting a flowmaster outlaw muffler on there what do you think?

also instead of having it dump out the back or side could i do it behind the cab so there is less pipe? im just looking for what i can do here cause im not getting much throaty noise.

mine is 4" from turbo back it has an 6"x15" tip silverline exhaust, no cats took the muffler out couple weeks ago... i have had shorter exhaust on another truck and it creates rumble in the cab that will give you a headache, i personally wouldnt go that route, i would like to redo mine where it splits and has dual w the tips....when i get it running properly i will get a video from the outside....

i have heard my same truck w 5" back no cat no muffler and that sounds really good...
