Ignition wiring

Okay i'm new to mechanics here with a simple question,

my car is Negative ground and the positive is connected to the starter.

The wire from the ignition coil to the distributor has to be connected to positive or negative?

I took off the wire to put a new one cus the previous was old and forgot which it was connected to.

negative wire is the coil to distributor
positive wire is a keyed power source to power the coil
