6.0 Nightmare.

I am the proud owner of a 99 7.3 psd and a 6.0 psd Had great help from this forum with the 7.3. So going to look for some help on the 6.0. It is a 2005 excursion with the 6.0 changed the oil and oil filter, and the fuel filter on top of the engine. Wife went to go shopping and called and said the truck would not go over 45 MPH. When she returned home I took the truck for a ride and did get it up around 70 MPH. Went to the house and figured the filter in the fuel rail was clogged so i changed it out. After the filter change I went for a ride and the truck was losing power fast. Returned home and truck dies. Figured the filter did not seal right so I went and got new filters from Napa. Changed out the filters and replaced the batteries. I did put the filters in the caps the oiled the seals up to create a good seal. Well I have been trying to get the air out for 2 days now. Got the tuck to run a few time's but it just will not get going keeps dying. Took the cap off on the filter on the engine to watch and see if the fuel is entering the cup, It was bubbleing but when the level of fuel started to rise it was real slow. Suspect a bad pump. Spoke to the diesel Tech at the dealership and he actually was a big help. He said he has changed the filters out on the 6.0 and the pump has died. I am stumped has anyone run into this before where the pump died. Before I buy a new pump would like to know what you guys think.

Why would changing filters kill the pump? Other then this backwards logic. Have you checked to ensure your pump mounted filter cap isn't cross threaded? Also did you use a motorcraft oil filter and do you have a after market or stock oil cap. Its well documented that using a Napa oil filter cap with a motorcraft filter insert will cause a no start. I would actually put my money here. Buy a ford cap and filter and try again.

The cap is the one that was on the truck. i put the trukc on a snap on modis. pulling no codes. got the truck to start a few times but it is acting like it is starving for fuel.

i am in the process of pulling the fuel pump. Just havin trouble pulling it off the rail got it completly disconnected. This truck has been a nightmare since i bought it. Not going to give up though i have faith I will keep everyone posted with outcome. THanks for all the ideas.
