With the air ride suspension it is only 6'7" tall and fits in a residential garage.

The late model bed is not my taste, but the truck looks to be built nice. That is a huge engine cover! I have basically similar setup on my 49 COE. 74 GM one-ton chassis, 350 SBC/T400, air bags (front only for right now). Mine rides and drives great, cruises at 75 mph, just takes a lot of gas. I cut about 2.5 inches off the lower rear part of the front fenders where the running boards mount, they were useless and kept me from getting as low as I wanted.

 

Hey Folks,
Since I have gotten my "54 COE I have been looking at all the COE stuff I can find. It seems to me there was a COE group on here but I can't find it. Maybe it was on another board but Iif it was I can't remember. So, if any of you COE guys know of anything like that I would be interested. Although I have the title I jst have the '54 cab. I am still considering lots of possibilities while I get the basic cab in condition. I'm thinking one ton or larger diesel chassis. I'd really like to find a "95 to '02 chassis with 4WD and dual rear wheels. Considering a toter as opposed to a slant back because I have trailers. I have a build thread started at Another COE project... if anyone is interested in looking.

If there are any places, groups or specialized forums for COE cabs I'd really like to know about them.

I posted a few pix of my coe on that thread and they got deleted because " the body style did not match the thread." and they also deleted my introduction thread. I guess they don't like the new body style of the bed. I won't be posting over there anymore!!!

 

Any pix of your engine cover? I am planning on making mine smaller

 

I highly recommend to make yours smaller if you can. Mine is basically the outline of the stock engine cover on the bottom and up the firewall. The whole thing is removeable for major engine work. I made the rest above the orig outline frame to follow the engine about 1-inch clearance. Insulated on engine side and dynamat-like stuff on the interior side. My body is pretty low relative to the engine, the spark plugs are right about floor level. Here is an in-process pic of the engine cover before i cut the back section to enable distributor and trans dipstick access.
