just remember everybody has there own price for everything. to me any 7.3 ex is not even worth $2000.00 because I have no use for a fuel guzzling family hauler. On the other hand if someone offered me $15,000.00 for my 01 f350 ext cab I would prob not take it even though I only paid $9,000.00 because I know it is reliable,it can easily haul anything I need (equipment, trailers, and even 6 peaple) it has all the features I want (all accesories with 6spd trans and man 4x4) which in this area is very hard to find. So the question is, is it worth that to you?

Fuel guzzling? What kind of mileage do you get with your F150?

Well, not sure why you want to insult EX owners by telling them their vehicles are not worth $2k and that they are fuel guzzlers, but everyone is entitled to their opinion (at least for now, I am sure Obama has an agenda to prevent free though or speech if he gets elected again )

I dont own an EX, but my reasons would be SAFETY for my family.. I would rather drive a vehicle that uses more fuel then be in a prius if I was ever in an accident.
AND size.. I would rather be comfortable and be able to haul a good size trailer with an EX VS being crammed in something small to save a few $ on gas and needing to give that money I saved from fuel to pay people with a truck to haul stuff for me.

I care about fuel prices as much as the next guy, BUT I care more about comfort and safety to let it decide what vehicle to drive.

(But hey, I never had a lot of fuel efficent vehicles growing up, my first car was a heavily modifed 75 LT camaro, second was a 78 thunderbird with a 351 and Tbar roofs, third was a full sized party van with a 351..memories lol)

LOLOLOL, you feel the 7.3L is a fuel guzzler, eh? That does make one beg the question then, what fuel guzzling engine do you have in your '01? Because based on your criteria, if you feel the 7.3L PSD is a fuel guzzler, the other engine options available for your '01 F350 are gonna be worse.

Or is it you just prefer your fuel guzzling '01 F350 truck over a fuel guzzling 7.3L family hauler?

Not me.

I've had a couple guys knock on my door asking to buy my Lightning. I always respond with, "You don't have enough money."

One guy kept pestering me, imploring me to name my price. So I did. I told him 20k. He started scrutinizing my truck and countered with 10K. I laughed and told him 20k and not a penny less.

His stated my Lightning wasn't worth 20k and he could buy one for less.

Well derrr!

By my calculations, by the time he offered you $10k, he already owed you $200 for your time that he wasted!

im trying to sell my old 53 m38 jeep, but every time someone shows up and starts with the- "this and thats" i seem to always end up saying "im not that motivated to sell it". then again i've only sold one vehicle- bought it back, then cut it up with a sawzall a few years later. as an old mechanic, i get very attached. i'll put em out to pasture rather then sell em.

Kurt, You bring a tear to my eye. I like the term "out to pasture" Up until I was about 45 yrs old I would turn my old cars into demo derby cars and drive them until they were DEAD! Then I would pull my fuel cell & battery give them a kiss and walk away knowing I got everything I could out of them.
And my old pick ups I would wait until the floor boards were rotted out and then pull the motors and crush them. I actually sold my first vehicle in 25 yrs about 4 mths ago. A 89 F150 XLT with 200k and I actually miss that truck. But the wife said I could only have one truck !

this thread really makes me think... will probably have old green until she is rotted clean through. once those rust worms set in, it's a losing battle. will buy another @ that time.

for the family wagon, however, chose to lease. i want to make sure my family is safe and in a reliable vehicle. as the kids grow, our needs will change and trading the family wagon every 2-3 years makes perfect sense. will probably end up with a mini van sooner or later. just couldn't do it this time around.

I didn't even catch that, I thought he posted he had a F150. Makes it even more wow. I'm dumping my fuel guzzling 7.3 for whatever he has! 30MPG here I come!

I think if you read it he said it would not be worth 2k to him.Not in general. I am not to much on the big suv's either. My wifes navigator does not have near the room in it that my truck does. I feel cramped in there every time I get in it, but she likes it and I am not opposed to driving or riding in it, and they are nice to pile all the vacation stuff in and go and I know the Ex has alot mor e room than the Nav. so I can see why people like em especialy with the 7.3.
I hate to hear any man say that his wife wont let him have something or he is thinking about a minivan. I know the saying goes never say never, but if that ever happens around this house I hope a few of my friends come over and kick the S#@$ out of me. Ill be 40 in another year and married for 13 this summer with a 2 and 5 year old running around and I dont think change is in my future.
