Power Steering Pulley

I'm installing a new air conditioner from Classic Air and so far so good. The instructions and pictures are good enough for someone like me to understand. Here's the problem I have come across, the pulley on my power steering pump is kind of boogered up and I have tried LMC, NPD, O'Rielly's, NAPA, and Autozone. No one carries them. I've been to salvage yards in the DFW area and most old trucks are stripped of nearly everything. Any idea where I can procure the pulley? I wouldn't mind springing for a whole new pump but when I look at the photos, they don't include a new pulley.

You can find pumps and pulleys on ebay, jegs, and summit racing. I bought the pump from jegs because it was black powder coated and had the bolt on pulley. Some have press on pulleys so make sure you match up your application.

I bought this one from jegs

JEGS Performance Products 60701 JEGS Power Steering Pumps

and got the pulley from this place on ebay.

How about the cars, are they stripped too?
As original,, P/S pump pulleys were a Ford Dealer part only .. not available from autoparts stores. So I'm not surprised that the sources you listed don't have any.

P/S pulleys were not furnished with pumps, were sold by themselves. P/S pump pulleys must be pressed on/off. Any other method, the pulley and/or the shaft could be compromised.

The same P/S pump pulleys used on 1966/77 F100/350's were also used on 1965/77 Passenger Cars, so if you cannot find a truck, look elsewhere.

There are several different diameters, some are "deep dish."

1969 F100: Look at the pulley you have now...there will be an ID number stamped on it, examples: AD / AH / 6AA / 7AA / DOAR-3D673-B / Post what it is.

Thanks Bill, I was really hoping you would chime in. Interesting to know that they were used on passenger cars that late. I don't want to use a different pump because I'm adding the new air conditioner and have already made the brackets for the PS and don't want to start all over.

The P/S pump is basically the same 1965/77 Passenger Cars, 1966/77 F100/350's, has a steel reservoir.

The P/S pressure hose threads onto the pump.
---------------------------------------------
1978: Ford changed the pump on everything except Econolines (which used the Saginaw pump), the reservoir is plastic.

The P/S pressure hose...on the pump end...has a straight tube w/an O-ring on it. Attaches to the pump w/a qwik connect fitting.

Look at the pulley you have for its stamped ID number. The examples I listed (post 5) for 1969 F100's are the same as cars, have C5AZ, C7AZ, D0AZ part number prefixes.

Bill, the pulley has no identifying marks anywhere on it. I cleaned it properly looking for some clue, but nothing. It is, as I recall, 5 7/8ths inches across with an approximate 7/8ths inch bore. It is indeed pressed on.

How wide is the P/S belt? 5/16" / 7/16" / 3/8" / 1/2"

Here are a few same-o same-o (1965/77 cars/1967/77 F100/350) examples...there are at least 10 additional, but the sheave (pulley groove) width is the deciding factor.

D0OZ-3A733-B .. 6 1/4" / Marked: D0OR-3A733-B / 11

D0AZ-3A733-A .. 5 5/58" O.D. / Marked: D0AR-3D683-A / 0

C5AZ-3A733-F .. 5 3/4" O.D. / Marked: AF / 4

C5AZ-3A733-H .. 5 1/4" O.D. / Marked: AD / 2

C7AZ-3A733-A .. 5 1/4" O.D. / Marked: 7AA / 16

THIS is a huge help! I found some on eBay but didn't know what the #s were. Thanks again, from one old timer to another.

Sadly my old high school buddy retired after being the parts manager at our local Ford dealer for 45 years.

Found 4 of the 5 examples NOS / Quantity available per part number: 16 / I'll list the sources if interested. / One source that has 2 different pulleys, is located in Rangerville aka 6 Flags over TX (Arlington).

Drove by a coupla years ago. Stopped along the way (while heading east to the Pate swap meet in Ft. Worth), in Amarillo...ate two of those 75 ounce steaks w/all the fixin's in less than an hour.
