I just purchased a 1966 Ford f100 4x4 with 48,000 miles. I was wondering if someone could break down the vin for me. The numbers are vin - f11yc762556, wb - 129, color - wm, model - f110, body - b81 and trans - a. I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Do not believe the miles shown on the odometer! The odometers of trucks of this vintage read to 99,999.9 then return to ZERO.
48,000 miles on a 46 year old truck is a tad over 1,000 miles per year: Unrealistic. So it's most likely 148,000, or 248,000...or who knows...how many miles.

Thanks for the decoding. Actually the miles on the truck are accurate. I've known the original owner for quite some time and all the truck was used for was a back-up farm truck and he barely used it. I've been trying to get my hands on it for awhile as it's been parked for a number of years and that's never good for them. I got it for quite a steal and it's virtually rust free, just needs a little tlc to get it mobile again.
That's why I wanted it so bad. I didn't want a truck in this amazing shape go to waste. I plan on slowly doing a complete resto on it. I think it deserves it. Everything on it's original and in very good shape. I will post pictures later. Just going right now for new wires plugs cap and rotor button so I can get it running.
How exciting to be able to find such a survivor, I'm sure you know but I'll say it anyway. Dump all the fluids as if they haven't been changed they have degraded. Wheel bearings will need to be repacked as the grease most likely will have dried out and those little crusty part mix into the grease ,not good. I base these statements on experience gained from starting heavy equipment that had been idle for years and learning how oils, fuel and grease break down. Better to take your time and cover the bases now and not have a simple thing cause a problem later.

I appreciate the advise. That is pretty much what I had in mind to do. You can't even turn the locking hubs so I need to pull everything apart and make sure everthing is ok and put in all new fluids, grease and any seals that tend to dry up and crack. it's going to be a time consuming project but what's the point of getting something like this if your not going to do it right.

Another 4x4 survivor is great to see. Welcome from a fellow 4x4er. If those are warn hubs they are rebuildable. The grease inside of them dries up and acts like glue inside of the outside part that turns and the housing especially if water has gotten in there. The Warn hubs on my 65 were siezed up I took them apart and cleaned the old dried grease out. Regreased and reinstalled and they work fine.

At the top of the page click on Articles/ Specs and select VIN Decoder from the drop down menu.
FTE VIN decoders aren't worth TWO CENTS, have multiple errors and omissions. AFAIK, there is no decoder for codes stamped on Rating & Warranty Plates, Certification Labels.
Doesn't really matter, because I already decoded the whole enchilada in post 2 using the Ford truck parts catalog. I also filled in some of the missing data.
Since 11/04/2006, I've decoded over 800 VIN's (and etc) for members, because...

I really appreciate all the help. I have already got the truck running and pulled apart the hubs and got them working. They got water in them and obviously stuck. I'm going to pull the engine and do a complete rebuild because of the amount of time it's been sitting. I want to make sure it's all in tip top condition. I'm pretty sure this truck found it's forever home.
My F100 has 2 extra gages on the dash. One is an oil pressure gage and the other is an altenator gage i believe. Is this a factory option or was it an add on option?
The oil pressure gauge and amp gauge were options with the Custom Cab (which you have) and/or came included with some packages like the Camper Special. Number Dummy may come along with better specifics.
