Dana 50 into 1/2 ton

Dana by Dana...
FWIW, A Dana 50 TTB carrier is a direct bolt-in to a Dana 44 TTB axle arm. I have done it with my truck. However, if you are planning on using your truck to the max the remaining 44 components are still the weak links in the system. It is possible to strengthen those 44 TTB arms with extra plating but the outer ends will may still be a weak point.
If you are wanting to use that Sterling on your F150 and have 8 bolt rims all the way around here is one possibility for you:
Dana 44 TTB 8-lug swap
This is similar to what I have done to my F350 2WD; the write-up of which I have yet to do with the intention of posting it here.

No, because the Ford D44HD or D50 knuckles [F250] will not fit the D44 [F150] axles arms. Using Ford [92 or earlier] D44 TTB knuckles and GM D44 large bearing spindles you will be able to use 8 bolt Ford or a number of several various GM or Dodge rims from this era.
As to the use of 15 inch rims, why? Clearance of brake calipers is quite often an issue; plus the limited availability of 8-bolt 15 inch rims and the ever dwindling 15 inch tire options.
