Are any of you guys into pulling trucks? This next summer will be the first time I pull with my truck. I have pulled with my buddy's '79 F250 (514ci stroker motor, talk about some power!) so it's not "new" to me really. Just wondering what you guys think of it and what you're running. After all, who doesn't like showing off their raw power

i dont compete or anything but i wouldnt be afraid to.. i think my dads 7.3 f350 would be pretty good at it. 8,500lbs with around 700lbft of torque. 4x4 with big tires.
just remember that sled pulling is hell on trannys, transfercases, everything behind the engine.
and the bigger and heavier with the most aggressive tires usually will out pull the others.

Oh I know how it all works, I'm no stranger to pulling. I would be willing to bet that with a programmer and a good set of tires, you'd have a pretty good chance against whatever else would be in your class. It usually does all come down to tire choice. On dirt/mud a good set of BFG Radial Mud Terrains will always outpull a good set of All Terrains, but on sand it's the opposite.

I wouldn't be afraid to put our 2002 F250 V10 in there but If I had my rathers I would throw what use to be ours 1993 Ford F250 4x4 460 V8 manual transmission F450 rear end as long as it had a good set of tires. When we had it we hauled everything with it that was our work truck and I mean nothing could work it. If you threw that puppy in granny and 4 low there was nothing that could beat it at least up here but we traded it for a mobile home and the new owners are breaking that truck big time.
