There very well may be some sort of official adjustment/alignment procedure available, I really don't know as I haven't owned an automatic transmission since around 1990.

What we tend to have here in this forum - with ~30 yo trucks - is ripped-out wiring, hacked wiring, crossed wiring, stuff like that.

All I'm saying is, IMHO there's a much larger chance some PO has messed with your wiring for some reason and that's the cause of your problems, I don't think I've ever seen talk here about adjusting the NSS to make things work.

Now, watch, out from the woodwork will come all these people talking about adjusting the damn thing, prolly including Franklin......

From the woodwork, hence I commeth...

There is a adjustment proceedure for the NSS.

The Linkage must be correctly adjusted first, before the NSS adjustment. It sounds like the hanes manual has the proceedure for adjusting a used one. The new ones come with a pin usually, simular to a new Ignition switch.

Just a word of advice, if the NSS is covered in Oil, or tranny fluid, I'd think highly of replacing the thing.

Also make sure the wiring isn't tampered with. The PO, might have rerouted the wires and bypassed the NSS.

But you are right Chris, adjustment usually isn't an issue, except when you can only start your truck if you lift up on the gear lever type symptoms.
