Hate to say it...your problem is probably ethanol gas. I have similar issues with my 2000 v-10 as well, when I can find non ethanol gas I get 12-13's mpg...when pumping ethanol I drop to 9's. Especially low grade gas...try stepping up to a mid grade or even premium gas if all you can get is 10% ethanol gas. hope that helps...

I can believe poor fuel quality maybe but 10% ethonal isn't gonna drop your mileage much, at most you'd see about a 3-4% drop in mileage so if you started at 12 mpg with regular unleaded, 10% ethonal blend is only going to drop your mileage to about 11.5-11.6 mpg, not 9 or 7mpg, thats rediculous.

SLE....I beg to differ,My experience with my truck (2000 v-10 cc 4x4) When useing non ethanol(no longer available in my area) I average 310-320 on a tank, fill up with 10% ethanol and range drop to the 220 mile range.true there could be other issues in my case Im pretty diligent about checking for pending codes and other maintanance issues. But its been my experience over past couple of years my mileage plummets with ethanol...I'm filling up with chevron gas regularly. I'm experimenting with premium and mid grade at present to document any improvements in mpg. On the code issue, I have only had the truck throw 1 cel in 12 years, that was for a O2 sensor. Ran a mode 6 scan on it the other day and found a pending P1876, which is a transfer case code....still trying to figure that one out. Yall have a good day.

I could even buy a 5% drop on a given vehicle but your claiming a 31% drop in mileage when using E10. I can tell you if that's truely the case it's not the E10 causing it, you have to admit thats a pretty rediculous claim. Consider the fact that with a 10% blend, you still have 96%-97% of the energy equivelant of regular unleaded. I pretty sure I could put 10% water you in your fuel and you wouldn't get a 31% drop in mileage. Just something to think about as you probably have other issues.

i always used to put ethanol in my 90 302 and got 12 highway and like 9 city probably....and it ran like hell.... so out of curiosity i decided to run regular unleaded....which is 10c more expensive(but worth it) because i am now gettin 19 highway and 17 city!!!

I've been fighting with the same thing for over a year. replaced ujoints, calipers, caliper brackets, o2s with MC, plugs, cops, wheel bearings, ball joints, all fluids, exhaust manifolds and studs, cleaned maf countless times, fuel pressure regulator is @32 idle & 40 wot. new cat, ebay headers, y pipe, knock sensor, fuel filter, no cel no codes no lift stock tires. bought the truck in jan 3yrs ago with 102k got 12 mpg all winter 13ish in the summer down hill from there. now getting 8ish.

I apoligize for being long winded and don't mean to hijack, wanted to let you know your not alone. my truck is similar 2002 f250 4x4 cc lb 3.73s.

I've the motor smoked @ a decent garage to look for vacuum leaks and look for any reason my mpgs took a dump. no luck. I've given up,

the ethanol thing could be it although lately i have noticed a odd sound coming from front drivers side so ill inspect that first. i know its not the tires- same as stock just different tread pattern. i use lucas fuel system treatment and it gets me about 210 to a tank instead of 180 and it doesn't matter if its summer or winter...i'll try the fuel thing and re-post to let ya'll know my findings, and don't worry about hijacking any info is appreciated.

My mpg doesn't change much from summer to winter. I probably gain 1mpg in the summer however that is more than likely due to driving conditions, cold dense air requiring more fuel and etc. I never experienced big mpg differences between E10 and Pure Gas. I can get both and I've tried pure gas several times and the difference is not really noticeable. If your getting 100 miles and using more than a 1/2 tank your either pulling a hell of a load, driving like a madman or have something wrong with your truck.
