DKF...thats what I'm trying to figure out...not loaded unless you count a toolbox full of tools and a generator, not driving like a madman (most of the time ) high mileage...just passed 250,000...but truck has never pulled like youd think a v-10 would. at least from what i pick up on here.

By the way wher'ed you get your avatar? wife was giving me flak while I was typing....

You're absolutely correct. I normally get about 350-375 to a tank with my work tahoe but when I run E85 ethanol I get 225-250 at best.

well i filled up with 92 octane non-ethanol and it seems to be worse like 40 miles on a 1/4 tank worse so idk...has to be something else cuz the owner of the fuel company where i got the fuel said she uses that in here 'burban and gets alot better mpg and performance...by the way britt what is a mode 6 scan cuz i am wondering if i might have a fuel pressure prob or vacuum leak or if its spark related as in the coil pak boots.

Russ, These trucks are set up with a obd 2 connector under the dash, however "Big Brother" decided that they only had to be obd 1 compliant because they were considered a Heavy duty truck...meaning these trucks hardly throw a code...for example in the 10 years ive had mine ithas only thrown one cel light for a O2 sensor. My buddy teaches auto shop at the high school and he used his snap on scanner to force the computer on the truck into Mode 6 which if I understand correctly is a forced self diagnostic loop. he checked whole she-bang and found nothing out of normal. when I switch back and forth from ethanol to non, it takes a couple of tanks for everything to settle down. I know its rough..I fill up every three days...90 bucks a pop. If you have access to a scanner that data logs you can hook it up while your driving and it will check fuel trim and pressure and save it for review. some of the higher end ones at advance auto do this ...Mine is an actron cp 9180. its ok but no where near the diagnostic capabilities of the professional units.

I swapped out my fuel pressure regulator when my mileage started to nosedive a couple of years back, cant think it made a whole lot of difference ....i m right there with ya,I cry every time I pull up to the pump...keep plugging and if i figure something out, I'll let you know...you do the same.

Russ , almost forgot...when We pulled the scan on my truck the other day we found a p 1876 which is something to do with the transfer case, It was a intermittent or pending code meaning that the computer in the truck has to read that fault a whole bunch of times before the cel will illuminate.

I'm sure some one here has WAY more knowledge on this than me, maybe they'll chime in...

britt do u get better mileage with non than w/ethanol and i can get the non reg grade and the non prem grade except for the obvious price difference is the premium better or will the reg do the trick too...i still only got 40 miles to 1/4 tank with the premium non-ethanol so far but is first tank trying this solution no pulling and no heavy accel

Russ, yes i get better mpg with non ethanol versus ethanol. I try to fill up with a good gasoline...chevron etc.sams and wally world is generally a low quality gasoline...
I'm sure some here will protest but thats just my 2 cents worth...mid grade is my general choice...let me know...I dont get why some of these trucks are un affected by ethanol and others are...

Drove my van to work for the first time in 3 years today.
It has been sitting with out being driven more than around the block.
Both front calipers stuck and are going to be replaced Sunday.
$90.00 for the calipers and $50.00 for ceramic pads
77,053 miles on it.
It's my fault for letting it sit.
But as I have had the tow truck 24/7 for the last 3 years I just plainly neglected it.
Even having to replace the fuel pump a few months back and now the calipers and pads I'm still ahead as I've not had to buy gas for it.
